Wiffa (ex-Rhythm Guitar & Vocals)

ex-GTFBi rhythm-master Wiffa Smith

Personal comment: "It's your round Willie"

Wiffa is no stranger to triumph but has a strange, what he calls, instinctive perspective of the disappointing.

It defines him more definitely than any of the band are deaf. Smile, be happy, always look on the bright side, everything's gonna be alright, it's a beautiful day, I'm walking on sunshine, oh what a wonderful feeling, zippedy doo dah zippedy yay all completely lost on Wiffa.

Hewn from an indestructible mould of authentic human flesh and bone this guy is utterly authentic. Every word he speaks reverberates in the labyrinths of the minds and souls of those with whom he engages, yet his music, his deft fingering and his gentle though somewhat unnerving presence have a distinctive effect on both the band and their rapturous audience.

To be blunt and perhaps more than a little obtuse Wiffa's subversive influence is to inspire hope from the ashes of pessimism, to suck glory from the sodden carcass of rotting despair, indeed to bring a candle of warmth into the Sahara.

Hear the delta blues coruscating through GTFBi's interpretive and original music and you will understand nothing but feel everything; truly only the work of an addled genius can supply such empty fullness, such quiet loudness and influence so much for so many with so little effort. Rhythm guitar never looked so easy and sounded so good.
